Who we are

CartCompare is operated by Jellie UK Limited ("we", "us", "our").

First-use notice and analytics choice

When you first use the public beta, we show one first-use notice linking to the Terms and Privacy Policy. Continuing records an acknowledgement in your browser and may send a KPI event confirming the notice was viewed or acknowledged.

The notice lets you continue with essential storage only or accept analytics. Analytics consent is not marketing consent and does not remove your responsibility to verify retailer checkout details before buying.

Information currently captured

• Search and basket inputs: search terms, basket/list lines, selected filters, store selections, and comparison settings.
• Images you upload for OCR: shopping-list photos/screenshots are processed to extract text. Do not upload images containing sensitive personal data or unrelated people/documents.
• Result interaction events: feedback thumbs, selected basket items, proceed/link clicks, conversion-style events, disclaimer viewed/acknowledged events, and feature usage KPIs.
• Technical context: timestamps, request metadata, browser language, timezone, platform, viewport/screen size, device pixel ratio, diagnostics, errors, timeouts, and service health metrics.
• Contact and update forms: information you submit voluntarily through contact or update forms.
• Account identifiers: if you sign up, sign in, or save preferences, we may process submitted account details such as email address, name, account ID, email domain, consent choices, household-size band, budget priority, preferred stores, and similar preference fields you choose to provide.

We do not intentionally collect age, gender, household profile, or similar personal preference answers in the public search UI.

How we use this information

• To return search, basket comparison, OCR, and retailer handoff results.
• To measure beta KPIs such as searches, store coverage, disclaimer acknowledgement, feedback, proceed intent, errors, and successful/failed connectors.
• To improve ranking, match percentages, product variation handling, basket completeness, and UI usability.
• To monitor uptime, security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and reliability.
• To respond to contact, privacy, or support requests.

Third-party sources, retailers, and analytics

We query third-party retailer sites, APIs, affiliate connectors, and data feeds. Their prices, stock, reviews, images, promotions, product descriptions, and availability can change without notice.

We may use analytics/KPI tooling, including PostHog or equivalent product analytics, to understand aggregate beta usage and service quality. Where you have submitted account details or are signed in, analytics events may include account identifiers and preference fields needed to connect activity to your account profile. These events are intended for product improvement, reliability, personalisation, and KPI reporting, not to change retailer prices.

Order and checkout disclaimer

CartCompare does not process final orders in this beta experience. Purchases happen on the destination retailer site, where final price, stock, substitutions, delivery, loyalty pricing, product suitability, and terms apply.

Displayed basket totals, match percentages, product images, and proceed links may be wrong or incomplete. Always verify before purchasing.

Data sharing, retention, and minimisation

We do not sell personal data from this beta. Relevant logs, query records, OCR-derived text, event records, and diagnostics may be retained for security, debugging, fraud/abuse prevention, service quality, legal audit, and product improvement.

We aim to minimise retained personal data and avoid unnecessary sensitive data. Please do not put sensitive personal data into searches, baskets, feedback, contact forms, or uploaded images.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to use OCR/image upload, not to click retailer links, and not to submit contact or update forms. You can also clear local browser storage to remove local acknowledgement state.

If you need deletion, correction, access, or clarification regarding submitted information, use our Contact page and select "Privacy request".

Report concerns

If you identify inaccurate data, legal risk, harmful content, or an unintended data capture issue, please report it via the Contact page so we can review and remediate quickly.
