How to compare USB-C chargers without buying the wrong one
Start with the device, required wattage and charging standard before comparing ports, cable length or price.
A charger is only good value when it supports the device you intend to charge. Check the device manufacturer’s recommended wattage and whether it uses USB Power Delivery, PPS or another fast-charging standard before comparing products.
What to compare
- Total output and the output available from each port
- Whether a cable is included and rated for the required power
- UK plug design, safety markings and warranty support
- How output is divided when several devices are connected
A very high headline wattage can be misleading if it is shared across ports. Compare the output table for the exact port combination you will use, then check the final price and current availability with the retailer.
