A cordless-vacuum buying guide for real homes
Floor type, usable runtime and maintenance cost are more useful than comparing maximum-power claims alone.
A smaller home with hard floors has different needs from a carpeted home with pets. List the surfaces, stairs and storage space first so that weight, head design and attachments can be judged against a real cleaning routine.
Look beyond maximum runtime
- Expected runtime in the power mode you will actually use
- Whether the battery is removable and replacements are available
- Bin capacity and how easily filters and brush bars can be cleaned
- Tool storage, machine weight and reach under furniture
- Ongoing cost of filters, bags or replacement batteries
Compare the complete package rather than the machine alone. A cheaper model can become poor value if essential tools or replacement parts are difficult to obtain.
